The PROTECT Act (Prosecutorial Remedies and Other Tools to End the Exploitation of Children Today) intends to protect children from abuse and sexual exploitation, a common element of child human trafficking.

This paper analyzes the connections between sexual violence and colonialism in the lives and histories of Native peoples and argues that colonialism is itself structured by the logic of sexual violence.

These findings are based on National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) data collected by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS). The NCVS inquires about criminal victimizations from an ongoing, nationally representative sample of household residences in the United States.
