img-icon-newsThe Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention awarded $2,290,583 in federal Violence Against Women Act grants.

“The grant funding we are announcing today is vital to Maryland’s continuing efforts to combat domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes against women,” Christopher Shank, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention, said in the release. “Organizations from every region in the state will use this funding for programs in Maryland courts, state’s attorneys’ offices, law enforcement agencies and nonprofit organizations to hold offenders accountable, protect victims and help families rebuild their lives.”
