The Violence Against Women Act, our nation’s response to intimate partner violence, was recently passed with explicit inclusion of LGBT survivors of violence and implementation began October 1st. The Office on Violence Against Women has committed to the implementation of these provisions over the coming months and this will increase resources and support to LGBT survivors of intimate partner violence. In this piece, local and national LGBT and mainstream anti-violence organizations published an open letter about what this means to LGBT people and to the anti-violence movement.
