Prevention is radical. It is rooted in the belief that our collective liberation is possible, even as we navigate persistent white supremacy, attacks on our bodies, and violence in our communities. Radical leadership is about being intentional. Intentionally shifting power, taking risks, and showing up.
To make real change, we need to make bold connections and follow the lead of Black advocates and grassroots organizations who have been tirelessly doing this work for a long, long time. In the words of Girls for Gender Equity, we must "bring our values to life by affirming and investing in the leadership of communities who have long been sidelined by public policy to maintain oppressive structures... [to] lead us to a radically different world where we all experience freedom, safety, and joy in our lives."
Creating a world free from violence requires us to boldly and unapologetically confront and dismantle white supremacy, anti-Blackness, and other forms of oppression. This issue of the PreventIPV newsletter highlights upcoming events and new resources that push us to be bolder in our work to end gender-based violence.
