This brief report presents key findings from a qualitative evaluation focused on the experiences of domestic violence advocates and direct service providers working with Black immigrant and refugee survivors. The insights shared in this report are intended to inform more responsive service delivery and guide policy and systems-level changes that align with the lived realities of Black immigrant and refugee survivors.

This report highlights three alternative housing models to helping survivors of inter-personal violence (IPV) achieve more equitable housing outcomes. The housing models discussed here include: a state coalition that is building permanent housing using Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs); a regional IPV program that is leading community workforce and housing development; and finally, immigrant-led organizations that are developing housing, employment, and child-care cooperatives to resist gentrification and housing discrimination.

This report examines how the challenges of housing insecurity are especially impactful for underserved communities, including Black immigrant and refugee populations.

This report details the project expansion of the 2022 process evaluation of the flexible funding pilot project conducted by the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) in partnership with the LGBT Center of Central PA. Specifically, this report describes the findings from a research project that documented the types and quantities of BIPOC LGBTQ survivors' needs addressed through the flexible funding program; the immediate impact of receiving flexible funding on the housing status, safety, and overall well-being of BIPOC LGBTQ survivors; and the experiences of BIPOC LGBTQ survivors receiving support services from a community-based organization that specifically serves LGBTQ individuals.

This report summarizes the findings from an evaluation of the LGBT Center of Central Pennsylvania's pilot flexible financial assistance model. This includes the challenges encountered and lessons learned in the implementation process along with preliminary evidence of the success of the flexible financial assistance model. 

Immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking face unique challenges when accessing and maintaining safe housing. This document clarifies some misconceptions and provides resources and tools supporting advocacy on behalf of immigrant survivors. 

Listening sessions are an excellent technique to capture participants’ views and suggestions about an issue. The aim of this brief document is to provide some key considerations and guidelines when conducting listening sessions with survivors.

This article describes the common struggle with how to equitably and fairly implement coordinated entry (CE) through use of a screening tool that assigns points to individuals or families based on their ‘vulnerabilities.’ Offering an alternative, the authors conceptualize a decision tree accompanied with a model of brief and focused conversations to better determine housing needs for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
