An Online Resource Library on Domestic & Sexual Violence

Language Justice

Researchers and evaluators must also consider language justice an integral part of the process as it is key to establishing safety, promoting healing, and addressing survivors’ unique needs. Integrating language justice principles throughout the research and evaluation process helps ensure that survivor voices, experiences, and perspectives are accurately represented and respected, without distorting or minimizing survivors’ lived experiences and needs. By prioritizing language justice, researchers and evaluators can help to create a safe and empowering environment for survivors, build trust, and increase the validity and impact of their research findings.

The materials and tools within this section were selected to provide practical considerations for incorporating language justice principles throughout the research and evaluation process. The resources have been organized into four broad categories.
