Hawai'i Health & Harm Reduction Center, in partnership with the Center for Justice Innovation, the Hawai'i State Judiciary, and the Hawai'i State Coalition Against Domestic Violence), will be offering a webinar series on cultural humility with the LGBT community on December 14th and 21st from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. HST.
In the first webinar, presenters will explore the differences between approaching work with cultural humility and cultural competence. They will then provide participants with an overview of key terminology integral to working with the LGBT community and help participants increase their understanding of the Native Hawaiian concept of māhū as well as Western LGBT concepts.
In the second webinar, presenters will highlight the impact of domestic violence on LGBT communities, integrating stories of those with lived experience. Case scenarios will be used to increase understanding of the barriers and solutions to providing services to LGBT individuals impacted by domestic violence. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions during the presentation.
