Pet Protection Orders: A Powerful Tool to Respond to Animal Abuse and Domestic Violence

Forty American states now specifically enable courts to include companion and/or farm animals in domestic violence protection-from-abuse orders. The movement to enable pet protection orders began in 2006 and has spread rapidly, but several states are still holding out.
