Preventing sexual violence in Latin@ communities: A national needs assessment

This comprehensive report details advocates needs related to sexual violence in Latin@ communities. For example, while 91.4% of advocates who responded to the national survey said their organization has identified demographics of their intended service population, just 19.3% thought that their clients served matched those demographics; also, participants consistently discussed the importance of creating culturally specific materials that truly reflect the culture of Latin@ and/or Spanish-speaking communities.” This report is also available in Spanish.

Year 3 Report and Synthesis: National Strengths and Needs Assessment

OVC Bulletin: Privacy of Victims' Counseling Communications

Privacy issues concern crime victims throughout the criminal justice process. For example, to cope with the complicated emotions that often accompany the physical injuries and trauma resulting from a crime, many victims turn to counseling, only to find that the personal thoughts they share may be disclosed during the trial. Several state legislatures have responded by enacting laws intended to protect the privacy of communications between victims and their counselors or therapists.
