Polyvictimization: Childrens Exposure to Multiple Types of Violence, Crime, and Abuse

A large proportion of children surveyed (38.7 percent) reported in the previous year more than one type of direct victimization (a victimization directed toward the child, as opposed to an incident that the child witnessed, heard, or was otherwise exposed to). Of those who reported any direct victimization, nearly two-thirds (64.5 percent) reported more than one type.

Childrens Exposure to Intimate Partner Violence and Other Family Violence

Hate Violence Against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and HIV-Affected Communities in the United States in 2010

In 2010, NCAVP improved its data collection and analysis to better document incidents of violence for the 2010 and the 2011 report. The 2010 report not only analyzes aggregate data from NCAVP local member organizations but for the first time, also reports on person-level data which allows NCAVP to analyze the full experiences of LGBTQH survivors and victims of violence. This person-level data also enables NCAVP to identify which LGBTQH communities are most impacted by severe violence and murder.

Interventions to Strengthen Biological or Social Parenting and the Home Setting to Prevent Sexual Abuse of Children and to Influence the Gender Socialisation of Boys

The objectives of this review are to evaluate how parenting programs succeed at: (1) eliminating child abuse as manifest in official reports and in-person assessments; (2) altering parenting behaviors or attitudes associated with abuse; (3) enhancing parent-child relationships and positive parenting skills as buffers against abuse.
