Healing is a very individual process. Many Native people are returning to the traditional beliefs of their ancestors for healing. This resource does not intend to describe all types of healing that a victim/survivor might embark upon, nor does it attempt to illustrate the exact forms used by all tribes, spiritual healers or survivors. It describes some alternative/supportive healing and recovery processes other than mainstream approaches. Examples of ceremonies that survivors can take part in for their healing and recovery are also included. This resource is part of a larger document – The Principles of Advocacy: A Guide for Sexual Assault Advocates – by Mending the Sacred Hoop.
