The objective of this report includes understanding the values that underlie the American public’s views on issues relating to reproductive justice as a predicate to developing a communications framework for the reproductive justice movement, and identifying those segments of the public who appear to be most receptive to reproductive justice messaging and policies.

This journal article discusses how to design successful interventions to prevent HIV using socio-cultural factors which address institutional and social barriers impacting risk reduction in African American communities.

"The Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) monitors six categories of priority health-risk behaviors among youth and young adults: 1) behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence; 2) tobacco use; 3) alcohol and other drug use; 4) sexual behaviors that contribute to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection; 5) unhealthy dietary behaviors; and 6) physical inactivity. In addition, YRBSS monitors the prevalence of obesity and asthma. YRBSS includes a national school-based Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) conducted by CDC and state and local school- based YRBSs conducted by state and local education and health agencies. This report summarizes results from the 2009 national survey, 42 state surveys, and 20 local surveys conducted among students in grades 9-12."

From October 27-29, 2009, a working group of expert researchers, policymakers, and practitioners met to review the current state of evidence and practice in developing and implementing interventions and strategies to address the intersections of violence against women and HIV. The meeting aimed to make policy and programmatic recommendations for national and international HIV/AIDS programs and develop an agenda for future program development, evaluation and research efforts. This report summarizes the presentations, discussions and recommendations from the meeting.
