This report is the result of six months of research between Sovereign Bodies Institute and collaborating partners that examines how rates of violence against Indigenous and American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities have shifted from 2016 to 2021, and what impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had.

The purpose of a law enforcement interview with a sexual assault victim is to help them: (1) remember details about their sexual assault, and (2) share those details with investigators. The investigator’s role is then to document this information and evaluate it within the context of the entire investigation.
