The Center for Family Justice’s Training Institute is hosting numerous classes this month, aimed at teaching people more about domestic and sexual violence. The Center for Family Justice provides shelter and other services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. The Training Institute is part of that mission by providing community education on these topics.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the institute will sponsor the class “Dynamics of Sexual Violence,” at 10 a.m. at the Center, 753 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport. Participants will learn about the dynamics of sexual violence as well as the individual, community and societal factors that contribute to sexual violence. This workshop will also define rape culture and challenge the myths and stereotypes about sexual violence victimization and perpetration. In addition, participants will learn strategies on how to support trauma survivors, promote social change and how to access community and statewide resources. The cost for the class is $50 and eligible participants can get three recertification credit hours.
Upcoming classes focus on child sexual abuse and domestic violence prevention. For more information, or to register, call 203-334-6154, ext. 114.
