In India, rape is as much a social problem as it’s criminal. It’s a subject still shrouded in shame and stigma in a country governed by traditional patriarchy — which means women who have suffered sexual assault still hesitate to report it to the police for fear of backlash and social ostracism.

Throughout February, organizations and individuals nationwide come together to raise awareness of dating violence and promote healthy intimate relationships for youth. The NRCDV supports this national effort to bring visibility to youth experiences and foster positive change.
