As the movement to end domestic violence advances, advocates recognize that in order to best meet the needs of the community and their organizational goals for social change, it is necessary to draw a balance between the interwoven priorities of 1) enhancing safety and justice for victims/survivors and their children, and 2) promoting widespread cultural rejection of oppression and violence.
