The movement to end gender-based bias exists, as do all things, in a state of paradox. We have helped countless individuals and families, improved communities and raised awareness while simultaneously manifesting white supremacy culture, ignoring the harm we have caused in communities of color and indigenous communities through our collusion with the criminal legal system. In June of 2020, forty-seven state and territorial coalitions signed on to the “Moment of Truth Letter”, which details the harms caused by the mainstream movement and articulates the commitment of the signatories to move into the future divesting from the criminal legal system and in community with BIPOC leaders. Join these speakers as they explore our historical foundations and the ways we can actively step into a future where the experiences and expertise of BIPOC members of the movement are centered.
