When a participant shares information with a battering intervention program, is it confidential? Is some information protected, but other information routinely shared? How does a participant know what to expect when it comes to privacy and confidentiality?
The answer to how information is protected or shared will differ, depending on how the battering intervention program is structured and where it is located. But in every program, it is important to be transparent with participants so they know what to expect.
This session will challenge battering intervention programs to assess their own confidentiality and information sharing protocols, and will discuss practical approaches to communicating with participants and community partners about protocols.
