This document is intended to promote a uniform evidence collection protocol that will assist to: minimize the physical and psychological trauma to the victim of sexual assault; offer communities a means to develop a victim-centered response; maximize the probability of collecting and preserving physical evidence for potential use in the legal system; and provide guidance to local communities.

Investigating Sexual Assaults: Model Policy

This model policy provides officers and investigators with guidelines for responding to reports of sexual assault, assisting victims, collaborating with local health service agencies, and conducting interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects. 

Denver Sexual Assault Response Protocol

This protocol from the Sexual Assault Interagency Council provides direction for professionals, counselors, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and other individuals in Denver who interact with victims of sexual assault, and a framework for the evaluation of their efforts.

Decreasing the Number of Incorrectly “Unfounded” Sexual Assault Reports

Case unfounding is clearance method that includes, but is not limited to, cases that are determined to be false reports. Unfortunately, in many sexual assault cases, unfounding may also be used improperly to clear cases that are believed or assumed to be false, rather than factually proven to be false.
