This study reveals that victims of intimate partner violence are likely to suffer certain types of fractures around the eye or upper face, which differ from facial injuries sustained by other types of assaults or accidents. These results, in conjunction with other presenting circumstances, such as delay in presentation, can assist the surgeon treating patients with maxillofacial injury in recognizing intimate partner violence.

This annual census documents the number of individuals who sought services in a single 24-hour period, as well as the types of services requested, the number of service requests that went unmet due to a lack of resources, and the issues and barriers that domestic violence programs face as they strive to provide services to victims of domestic violence. To achieve this vision, the plan works to prevent the occurrence of intimate partner violence by identifying and removing its causes at all levels of society, including by promoting healthy relationships. This plan describes needed change goals to work toward the vision over the next eight years and lays out a roadmap of strategies and tasks to achieve change statewide.
