This guide is intended to provide sexual violence advocates with information about child sexual abuse prevention programs that target adults. It will provide information about the basics of such programs and an overview of evaluation research for these programs. This guide is intended to assist advocates and prevention educators in selecting or designing prevention programs, and to provide evidence to support them in advocating for these programs to funders and the community at large.

"We kept reading statistics and observing that men were overwhelmingly the perpetrators of violence against women and girls. Yet, they were invisible to us. We were teenagers and it didn’t occur to us that male violence against women and girls was an issue that needed to be primarily solved by women.”

Two major models of prevention are commonly used in strategic planning: the Public Health Model and the Ecological Model. This bulletin examines the two models.

The purpose of this study was to provide high‐quality scientific evidence concerning the effectiveness of targeting a young, universal primary prevention audience with classroom‐based curricula and school‐level interventions.

In 2011, WCADV conducted 6 adult and 2 youth focus groups at DV programs in eight locations around Wisconsin. The purpose of these groups was to understand more about how DV has affected mother-child relationships and learn more about what these mothers and children need from DV programs. The focus groups were supplemented with information gathered from children in support groups in local domestic violence programs.
