Think about a time when someone corrected you in a way that actually helped you learn. What did they do that made it easier to stay open instead of getting defensive or shutting down?
When we facilitate trainings, we’ll inevitably hear things that are inaccurate, misinformed, or harmful. Our instinct may be to “set the participant straight,” but if we use shame, we shut down participation and increase resistance. Part one of this webinar series will move participants through common types of misinformation and challenging audience behaviors that show up in domestic and sexual violence education spaces. We will review concrete strategies to navigate these challenges that support learners to stay in a place of curiosity and learning.
