Rescheduled from 2019, Richard Propes will present “Sexual Violence and Disability: A Social Justice Framework for Providers,” a 90-minute webinar addressing the issue of sexual violence among people with disabilities. Working from the basic philosophy that “All people have the right to live, love, work, play, and pursue their life aspirations just as others do in their community,” Propes will illustrate individual, interpersonal, and organizational prevention strategies while surveying current legislation related to disability, discussing how HIPAA impacts efforts to prevent sexual violence and support those people with disabilities who experience it, and achieving a better understanding of the prevalence of sexual violence among people with disabilities and simple ways we can do something about it personally and professionally. Attendees will leave the webinar with better insight into the impact of sexual violence on people with disabilities and with tools and strategies to prevent violence.
