DELTA State Resources

This progress report provides an overview of strategies and activities used to reach the Alaska Pathways objectives: promoting healthy relationships and preventing violence.

In 2003, Alaska joined a national effort when the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault entered into a Cooperative Agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to build capacity to prevent DV throughout the state. The Cooperative Agreement, called DELTA (Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and Leadership through Alliances), led to the development of a statewide steering committee.

What will it take to end the pervasive problem of domesticviolence in California? How can communities addressthe conditions that lead to abuse of power and control,and ensure that intimate partnerships in all families andcommunities are respectful, equitable and free from thetrauma of violence?

This report is designed to identify the progress that has been achieved in California over the past decade and make policy recommendations for the state that will not only improve responses to the families affected by domestic violence but begin to put in place strategies for prevention.

As part of CDCs DELTA program, this summary outlines Delaware's plan to influence systemic change in four key priority areas and ultimately prevent domestic violence.

The ultimate purpose of Florida's intimate partner violence prevention plan is to work toward the shared vision: for the people of Florida to have non-violent and respectful intimate partner relationships. To achieve this vision, the plan works to prevent the occurrence of intimate partner violence by identifying and removing its causes at all levels of society, including by promoting healthy relationships. This plan describes needed change goals to work toward the vision over the next eight years and lays out a roadmap of strategies and tasks to achieve change statewide.

Intimate partner and sexual violence are critical issues that call for community-oriented approaches to stopping violence before it can begin.

This plan is a road map for creating healthy communities in Montana. It focuses on training, funding, initiatives, policy development, data collection and legislation. It complements prevention work that is being done in several communities across Montana. With these eight goals we hope to stem the tide of IPSV perpetration against all Montanans.Following the assessment and analysis of conditions that allow and promote IPSV crimes, the SSC identified needs and created goals for meeting those needs. The result is a plan spanning five to eight years.

This plan represents the first effort on this scale in North Carolina to address the factors that increase risk for perpetration of intimate partner violence and to promote factors which create healthy, sustainable families and communities. The structure of this document reflects our core commitment„to reach out to every North Carolinian with messaging about healthy relationships, with some specific focus on those groups which carry the heaviest burden of risk for being affected by violence.

As part of CDC’s DELTA program, this plan outlines the state of North Dakota’s plan to improve efforts to prevent intimate partner violence and sexual assault.

As part of CDC's DELTA program, this plan identifies 5 strategic directions for the prevention of sexual and intimate partner violence in Ohio.

The guidebook assists campus administrators in assessment, development, and delivery of consistent and appropriate plans and protocols to prepare for the possibility that sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking will occur among students, faculty, and staff on their campuses.

As part of CDC’s DELTA program, the Rhode Island State Steering Committee developed this domestic violence primary prevention plan as the first step in a long-term process to alter cultural norms, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that support domestic violence. The plan identifies evidence-informed prevention strategies targeting men and teens, as well as several ways to improve community-based organizations' and community members' ability to use and evaluate prevention strategies.

This statewide plan was based on a systematic 10-step planning process called “Getting to Outcomes.” The goal was to create and implement evidence-based strategies that prevent first-time perpetration of intimate partner violence.

This manual, a technical assistance tool in developing primary prevention initiatives at local sexual and domestic violence agencies, was intended to serve as an organizing philosophy rather than an irrefutable prescription for prevention work.

As part of CDC's DELTA program, Wisconsin developed this five-year strategic plan to using a public health approach to benefit the largest group possible; it builds the capacity of individuals, organizations, and systems to more effectively identify, implement, and evaluate strategies that can prevent first-time perpetration.

In 2009, representatives from the Wisconsin Departments of Health Services, and Children and Families, the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Governor's Council on Domestic Abuse, the Wisconsin Children's Trust Fund, the Child Abuse Prevention Fund of Children's Hospital and Health System, and Children's Service Society of Wisconsin joined in a collaboration called "The Forward Wisconsin Initiative: Preventing Interpersonal Violence" to enhance efforts to change social norms and community tolerance for violence.
