Domestic Violence Content Topic Results

This Prevention Storybook represents the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence's attempt to wrap their arms around prevention learnings from the past ten years. The storybook outlines ICADV's rationale and framework for prevention and details successful prevention strategies throughout Indiana.

To provide insight into the experience of teen dating violence (TDV) for Latin@ youth, Casa de Esperanza reviewed 10 years (2008-2017) of academic research that examines TDV with exclusively Latin@ samples. This review revealed a wide range of rates on the prevalence of TDV among Latin@ youth and identified a growing body of research that examines several potential individual and family level risk and protective factors.

Spirituality and religion may be essential aspects of a victim's/ survivor's life and identity. This handbook, written for advocates, addresses key questions and issues that may arise in the aftermath of sexual violence and abuse and offers ways for advocates and allies to support survivors.

The Expect Respect Program is a school-based program designed to promote safe and healthy relationships.

Beginning in the fall of 2016, the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic embarked in a a multi-year process of re-centering Indiana’s prevention strategies and program services in survivor-defined needs in order to examine what types of programs and services were most valued, what needs were unmet, and how communities could reduce violence by increasing safety and supports for all. This document discusses the findings from this project and offers guidance for moving forward.

The movement to end domestic violence continues to struggle to address the ways in which it has historically disregarded, dismissed and devalued women of color. Because preventing gender-based violence is everyone’s responsibility, and because men are particularly well positioned to influence masculine norms and men’s behavior,  NRCDV's November 2018 TA Question of the Month, authored by Colleen Yeakle of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, asks “What else can men do to prevent domestic and sexual violence?”

This brief provides a synthesis of the research connecting housing instability, economic insecurity, substance misuse, and domestic violence. It also includes a short discussion of the broad social context in which patterns of domestic violence occur and a series of recommendations for decision makers, policy developers, and organizational leaders working to prevent domestic violence in their communities.
