This fact sheet presents information on how VAWA has improved criminal justice response to gender-based violence, improved access to services, and created positive changes.

This report is the result of six months of research between Sovereign Bodies Institute and collaborating partners that examines how rates of violence against Indigenous and American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities have shifted from 2016 to 2021, and what impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had.

The tool may be used to assess family violence efforts in primary care practices at the beginning and intermittently (every 6 months, every year, every few years) when focusing on family violence as a quality improvement goal. It is meant to be a tool for identifying deficiencies and so that they can be remedied and the care to patients living with violence and abuse can be improved.
