The Gambia is beginning to confront a culture of silence around sexual violence, led by a group of women breaking taboos by revealing the alleged abuse they endured at the hands of some of the country’s once most powerful men.

While these abuse tactics are certainly not exclusive to teens and can show up in relationships between people of any age, young people experience emotional abuse at alarming rates. This February marks the 10th anniversary of Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month (TDVAM), which means that this month is the perfect time to turn outrage into action to prevent emotional abuse and to promote safe and healthy relationship norms for teens.

Today is Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day, a time to bring attention to the EITC and other refundable tax credits to encourage more eligible taxpayers to claim them. Some 25 million working households claimed nearly $63 billion in federal EITCs last year.

February 2020 is almost here and we are celebrating 10 years of awareness efforts to end and prevent teen dating violence.

As domestic violence shelters build capacity to serve diverse populations and strive to become culturally competent, it is important for advocates to understand how they can have a direct impact on the outcome of the survivor’s path.

The fund pairs alleged work sexual harassment victims with their team of more than 700 lawyers and helps pay their legal fees. So far, they said they've linked an estimated 4,000 survivors with attorneys.
