Transformative justice is prevention! Victims of abuse are often times reluctant to report and/or share their experiences based on a myriad of reasons. However, the desire for justice and safety is still needed and necessary. This strategy session from NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall highlights alternative community-based solutions that center victim support and healing. ¡La justicia transformadora es prevención! Las víctimas de abuso son a menudo reacias a denunciar tal abuso o a contar su experiencias debido a una infinidad de razones. Sin embargo, el deseo por la justicia y la seguridad sigue siendo inevitable y necesario. Esta sesión de estrategias del Congreso de Prevención 2021 del NRCDV, destaca soluciones alternativas que provienen de la comunidad y que se enfocan en el apoyo y la sanación de las víctimas.  

This workshop from NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall critically examines current border policies and the impact that it’s having on asylum seekers fleeing gender-based violence and immigrant victims that reside in border communities. Este taller del Congreso de Prevención 2021 del NRCDV analiza de manera crítica las políticas fronterizas existentes y el impacto que éstas tienen en les solicitantes de asilo que buscan escapar de la violencia de género y en las víctimas inmigrantes que residen en las comunidades fronterizas.

The National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV), National AI/AN Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) and the Alaska Native Women’s Resource Center (AKNWRC) convened a workgroup of gender-based violence and housing advocates from Indian country to reflect on the needs of AI/AN survivors. The October 2021 Technical Assistance Question of the Month (TAQ) outlines some of the needs identified in the workgroup.

In this pre-recorded webinar, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) partnered with Diana “Dede” Yazzie-Devine, President and CEO of Native American Connections, an organization improving the lives of individuals and families through Native American culturally appropriate behavioral health, affordable housing, and community development services.

This paper makes connections between health equity and our work to prevent sexual and intimate partner violence. It centers the stories of survivors at the intersections of systemic racism, violence, and oppression. It explores ways to build both individual and organizational capacity to address health inequity. And, it offers a call to action for those ready to commit to health equity in their gender-based violence prevention work.

The National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and the National LGBTQ Institute on IPV is pleased to host this this transformative opportunity for gender-based violence practitioners and researchers who engage in community-based participatory research to learn new methods, share skills, and create meaningful collaborations that will have a positive impact on their work in our communities. Health is a basic human right and need. The September 2021 Technical Assistance Question of the Month (TAQ) shares select highlights from a newly released paper on health equity co-authored by staff at the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and National Sexual Violence Resource Center.

#1Thing you can do to center health equity and racial justice in your work is to learn from, partner with, and amplify the work of these Black-led organizations. This list (organized in alphabetical order) is not exhaustive, but it is a starting point.

Survivors need flexible, affordable, and safe housing options to achieve safety and lasting stability. The August 2021 Technical Assistance Question of the Month (TAQ) explores how faith leaders can work to address domestic violence and support the housing needs of survivors in their communities.

This Technical Assistance (TA) Bundle includes TA and training resources from NRCDV to support those who wish to invest in healing-centered community care. This approach nurtures resilient and equitable communities where those most marginalized can thrive. It fosters collective healing and liberation.

Meeting the immediate needs of the community in the pandemic has a lot to do with preventing sexual violence. The July 2021 TA Question of the Month explores the ways in which sexual violence prevention work has shifted in response to lessons learned from COVID-19.
