The To’ Kee Skuy’ Soo Ney-Wo-Chek’ project addresses the severe impact of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two spirit people (MMIWG2) and trafficking of Native people in Northern California, defined as from the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento up to the Oregon border. Over the course of this report, authors establish the scope and severity of MMIWG2 in Northern California based on our Year 1 findings, drawn from both quantitative and qualitative sources.

The devastation homicide inflicts on black teens and adults is a national crisis, yet it is all too often ignored outside of affected communities. This study examines the problem of black homicide victimization at the state level by analyzing unpublished Supplementary Homicide Report (SHR) data for black homicide victimization submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. 

The National Resource Center for Reaching Victims conducted a series of listening sessions to unearth the impact the COVID-19 health crisis is having on underserved victims of crime and better resource the crime victim services field to respond to those needs. Trauma and toxic stress often stem from experiences that occur disproportionately in the lives of girls and women, and of girls and women of color in particular. The adultification of African American girls who have histories of trauma has become the manifestation of how the needs of women and girls of color are overlooked and misunderstood. This webinar addresses the impact of implicit biases, inequities and historical trauma on the lives of children of color.

The primary purpose of this brief is to explain how programs that use a positive youth development approach (PYD programs) can embed a racial equity perspective so that they can more effectively engage with, support, and meet the needs of youth and young adults of color whom they serve.
