The prevalence of traumatic stress in the lives of families experiencing homelessness is extraordinarily high. This comprehensive toolkit was developed for use by homeless shelters and housing providers, although the material can be highly useful for domestic violence advocates.

This guide describes a variety of activities and games that offer ways for adults to support and strengthen executive function and self-regulation in children.

Transgender individuals in particular are impacted by violence and discrimination in ways that both contribute to high rates of homelessness and keep them from accessing necessary shelter and services. On September 14, 2020, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and the National IPV Prevention Council, in partnership with the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence, and the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, hosted our first ever National Prevention Town Hall, highlighting innovative social change efforts in the East North Central Region of the United States. 

The purpose of a law enforcement interview with a sexual assault victim is to help them: (1) remember details about their sexual assault, and (2) share those details with investigators. The investigator’s role is then to document this information and evaluate it within the context of the entire investigation. This module offers a brief overview of the scientific research on stress, trauma, and memory, as well as the unique dynamics of sexual assault.

The information in these modules from NCALL will enhance investigative skills, help you work effectively with older victims, and provide you with tools that can help keep victims safe and hold offenders accountable.

This document provides information to prosecutors on assisting immigrant victims of domestic violence. The document suggests prosecutors collaborate with community-based domestic violence and immigrant service organizations to provide services to immigrant women.
